42: The Answer, the Question, and Where to Look

We live in a world that desperately wants simple answers in one place — one book, one verse, one doctrine, one teacher. But the true teachings have never been held in a single container. They whisper through many doors, many traditions, and many moments of awakening.
Take 42 — a number that keeps appearing not only as an answer, but also as a compass. It is you, and it is where to look.
When we turn to the scriptures, Mark says something quietly profound:
“He taught them many things in parables…” — Mark 4:2
Why parables?

Because in his time, speaking openly about certain truths would have invited accusations of heresy, exile, or even death. So Yeshua spoke in ways that allowed the message to be hidden in plain sight — waiting for the student who had “ears to hear.”
Those with ears will hear when they are ready.
Those with eyes will see when the time comes.
So while the Bible holds real answers, they are written in layered language — symbols, metaphors, and parables designed to protect both the teacher and the student until their moment of understanding arrived.
But Yeshua’s teachings didn’t end with the canon.
To truly understand the fullness of what he shared, we must look where tradition told us not to look.
Enter the Nag Hammadi Texts
Discovered in 1945, these writings — long hidden — reveal a different side of Yeshua’s message. They are not in conflict with the Bible, but they illuminate it. They speak not of belief, but of knowing. Not of hierarchy, but of inner awakening.

And among these texts, one stands out as a guide for those who feel the stirring:
The Gospel of Thomas
Verse 42 is only three words:
“Be a passerby.”
It is the shortest saying in the entire text.
But perhaps the clearest.
Here, Yeshua hides nothing.
He doesn’t speak in a parable.
He doesn’t cloak the truth.
To “be a passerby” is to refuse attachment — not to body, not to fear, not to emotion, not to the illusions of this world. Every time you cling to these, you remain locked in the cycle:
Life after life.
Attachment after attachment.
Reincarnation after reincarnation.
Yeshua came to help us remember.
Not to save us — but to awaken us.

So what is 42?
It is you.
The seeker. The one with the question already planted inside.
It is also where to look.
In the parables.
In Thomas.
In the hidden texts.
In the silence between breaths.
In the spaces traditional doctrine told you to avoid.
The answer was never in one place — and it was never meant to be.
42: The Answer, the Question, and Where to Look
Here at Ketchum House, we continue exploring and sharing these hidden 42s —
the symbols, the teachings, the numerology, and the echoes that keep guiding us home. These are not dogmas. They are invitations.
If you are seeking, questioning, or awakening…
If you feel the pull of something ancient stirring inside…
If you sense that there is more — and that “more” is already within you…

We are here.
Anytime.
To speak, to listen, and to walk beside anyone ready to discover what 42 has always been pointing toward.
Be a passerby.
Be awake.
Be the answer you are seeking.
